I grew up in Myrtle Beach, SC and relocated to the Upstate in 1989. Graduated from Mauldin High School in 1990. I played football and wrestled during my high school years. After college, I went into law enforcement and then became a business owner. During this time I ran a very successful yet stressful company building fences and decks. I ended up at 265 pounds and 36% body fat. Breakfast was a couple of biscuits from Spinx and lunch was a buffet. I would come home at night and drink a six pack just to unwind. In an effort to lose her baby weight, my wife started working out and in order for me to spend more time with her, I started as well. We would run together, but quickly found out that running is not for me. I have had numerous knee operations and there was no cartilage left. We started at the globo gym and then a buddy asked me if I knew what CrossFit was. I did not. I went home and found Everett Does King Kong and knew immediately I was hooked. Our first box was 400 sq. ft. , it was two storage units and we had to haul equipment out to wod. Because of word of mouth, we quickly outgrew that space in a matter of weeks. Our next location was 2000 sq ft. and now our current location is 7000 sq. ft. Our core client base is CrossFit, but we do offer Strongman and Powerlifting. We have a strong contingency of athletes who compete in Strongman. We were one of the first affiliates in the Upstate in 2008 and have enjoyed every minute of it!
